Notably, it features Karnataka’s first underground powerhouse with an impressive installed capacity of 460 MW, divided into four units of 115 MW each. Varahi Hydro Electric Project

Varahi Hydro Power Project is a run-off river project located on the Varahi River near Hosangadi in the Udupi district of Karnataka in India. The purpose of the project is to divert the water for the generation of electricity. Varahi is Karnataka's first underground powerhouse.

The installed capacity of the underground powerhouse is 460 MW having 4 units of 115 MW each.

Encardio-rite was awarded the sub-contract for supply as well as installation of safety monitoring instrumentation for the project.
