Encardio-Rite
has supplied several geotechnical instruments for the Line 16 and
Charles De Gaulle Express metro tunnels, which are a part of the
prestigious Le Grand Paris Express Metro Project.
The project
involves a public transportation network plan consisting of four metro
lines around Paris, along with the expansion of two existing lines. The
four lines consist of Lines 15, 16, 17 and 18. The 26 km long Line 16
extends Line 15 and gives access to the more remote suburbs in the
north-east of Paris, 75 km long underground Line 15, around the edge of
downtown Paris and connecting all the closest suburbs. The metro lines
are planned to open in stages between 2022 and 2030.
The tunnel
monitoring instruments supplied included thousands of in-place
inclinometer sensors, strain gauges, pressure cells and load cells.
