Kundah Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Project is one of the biggest electricity generating schemes in Tamil Nadu. It is located in the Bhavani river of Nilgiris district in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. It is an underground project as all the components are located underground. The installed capacity of the powerhouse is 585 MW.

Encardio-rite was awarded the complete contract for supply as well as installation of safety monitoring instrumentation for the project. The instrumentation included:

  • Borehole extensometer (Multi-point – electrical)
  • Load cell suitable for rock bolts/anchors 
  • Pore pressure gauge
  • Bi-reflex targets with break-off points and convergence bolts
  • Readout unit
