Ghiss Dam

The Ghiss Dam, located in Al Hoceima, Morocco, is a major water management project with a 93 million m³ reservoir capacity. Standing 86m high, this upstream concrete mask backfill dam is designed to address water shortages in the region. The infrastructure includes 3.8 million m³ of backfill and regulates 17 million m³ of water annually. To ensure safety and performance, the dam is equipped with advanced geotechnical and structural sensors, including a leak detection system. Encardio-Rite supplied hydraulic settlement systems to monitor settlement during backfill operations.

Ghiss Dam

The Ghiss dam project, one of the largest structuring projects scheduled in Al Hoceima, Morocco. This new hydraulic structure, which is part of the efforts made by the public authorities to cope with the water shortage in the province of Al Hoceima, will have a capacity of 93 million m3, i.e. double that of the capacity of the Abdelkrim Khattabi dam. This is an upstream concrete mask backfill type dam, 86 m high on a foundation. This infrastructure, the volume of which is approximately 3.8 million m3 of backfill, will create a reservoir of 93 million m3 and regulate a volume of 17 million m3 / year.

This dam is being highly instrumented, in particular with a leak detection system, geotechnical sensors and structural sensors. A number of hydraulic settlement systems, supplied by Encardio-site, have been installed to monitor the settlement during backfill.
