Downtown MRT line Project, Stage 3

The Downtown MRT Line Stage 3 (DTL3) in Singapore spans 21 km with 35 stations, requiring extensive safety monitoring during construction. Downtown MRT line Project, Stage 3

The Downtown Line (DTL) is a medium-capacity Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line in Singapore operated by the SBS Transit company.  The Downtown Line Stage 3 (DTL3) is the final stage of the Downtown Line MRT system which has a total of 35 stations with a total route length of about 21 km. 

Thousands of Encardio-rite sensors were used in different contracts of the project to monitor its safety. A few of the contracts are mentioned below.

Ubi to Bedok Town Park MRT Station Contract 929A and 928 (LTA Contract 9189B1)

The contract comprises of five underground stations with a 13 km tunnel. 

Around 1015 numbers of arc weldable strain gauges and 20 numbers of tilt meters were used in the project. All sensors (100%) have operated satisfactorily.

Ubi and Kaki Bukit MRT Station Contract 929 and 930 (LTA Contract 9189B2)

The Contract 929 included construction of Kaki Bukit Station and Contract 930 included construction of Ubi Station and associated tunnels. 

The project used around 80 piezometers and 300 arc weldable strain gauges. All sensors (100%) have operated satisfactorily.

Upper Changi to Expo MRT Station Contracts C922 and C923 (LTA Contract 9189C1)

Contract 922 included the construction of Expo station and the overrun tunnels, and Contract 935 included the construction of Sungei Road station. 

Around 150 numbers of piezometers, 1470 numbers of arc weldable strain gauges and 40 numbers of tilt meters were used in the project. All sensors (100%) have operated satisfactorily.

Bedok Reservoir to Tampines West MRT Station Contract C926 and C927 (LTA Contract 9189C3)

Contracts 926 and 927 are for the construction of Tampines West and Bedok Reservoir stations and their associated tunnels.

Around 200 numbers of piezometers, 685 numbers of arc weldable strain gauges and 20 numbers of tilt meters were used in the project. All sensors (100%) have operated satisfactorily.

Kallang Bahru MRT Station Contract C933 (LTA Contract 9189A3)

Contract C933 comprises the construction of Bendemeer station and twin bored tunnels between Bendemeer and Geylang Bahru station and also between Bendemeer and Jalan Besar station, which underscores shop houses and existing structures.

Around 200 numbers of piezometers, 750 numbers of arc weldable strain gauges and 15 numbers of tilt meters were used in the project. All sensors (100%) have operated satisfactorily.
